Senators Should Follow President鈥檚 Advice and Work in a Bipartisan Way to Repeal Punishing 3 Percent Tax Withholding Mandate, Top National Construction Official Says

听听听听听听听听听听听 The chief executive officer of the Associated General Contractors of America, Stephen E. Sandherr, issued the following statement today in response to the Senate鈥檚 decision to proceed with a vote to repeal the 3 percent tax withholding mandate within the next 30 hours:

鈥淚t is encouraging that an overwhelming majority of Senators understand the urgent need for a vote to repeal the 3 percent tax withholding mandate.听Construction employers across the country that this new tax withholding measure will force them to cut staff, scale back equipment purchases and charge more to complete publicly-funded construction projects.听We hope the members of the Senate will keep the legislation clean of amendments that might delay final passage.听Instead, Senators should follow the president鈥檚 advice and work in a bipartisan manner to repeal this punishing tax mandate.鈥
